For the better part of 30 years, I have used conscious breathwork. It has been a cornerstone of my life. I have learned many techniques and approaches. As Occam’s razor shows us, the simplest answer is usually the best one.

While I have learned many complex techniques with interesting theories behind them, the simple act of breathing deeply and consciously is always the best.

tn-breathing-blogHere is a simple formula, which I also demonstrate in this 4-minute video.

  1. Sit comfortably or lie down.
  2. Take a deep transition breath in and out.
  3. Breathe in (through the nose) for 4 seconds.
  4. Gently hold the breath for 4 seconds.
  5. Breath out (through the nose) for 4 seconds.
  6. Repeat this gentle rhythm for 5 minutes.
The best times of day are when you first wake up (in a seated position so that you awaken the body) and before you fall asleep (in a lying down position so you go into a deeply restful sleep.
It’s important to take micro-breaks throughout the day to maximize the potential of your brain to stay in a flow state. 5-7 minutes of breathing with your eyes closed is an amazing practice to totally recharge your body and brain.

If you have one of those days that you wish you could start over, use the breath technique. You can always start your day over at any point. Change your breath, change your thoughts, and you will powerfully change your energy.

Everything is energy. You get to choose how you will experience that energy and what you will contribute to life around you.

This simple tool can radically shift you. It’s so simple, you might gloss over it. It’s so easy, you might procrastinate.

Discipline, focus and heart awaken the peaceful warrior and create a healthy, resilient body and mind.

I look forward to answering any questions you may have or booking your next appointment.
